Kletterpark Galitzenklamm is a compact climbing area in a dramatic gorge near Lienz in East Tyrol, Austria, where the Galitzenbach creek meets the Drau river. The gorge sits at just 700 meters elevation, making it ideal for an early-season climbing destination or when higher peaks are snow-covered. The rope park itself has three separate courses with 31 total elements, ranging from kid-friendly heights (2 meters) to challenging high-wire sections ending with a dramatic 25-meter flying fox. For via ferrata climbers, six routes span difficulty C to E, including a dedicated family route (C grade) and progressively harder variants like Adrenalin (D/E) and Dopamine (E). All routes are reachable within minutes from the parking area. You can rent via ferrata gear on-site, which removes the need to bring full equipment. Best visited May through October; the narrow gorge can get busy on weekends, so start early.
