Part of Hoge Kempen National Park
Opglabbekerzavel is a nature reserve in the northeast of Genk, east of Zwartberg and north of Waterschei, between the airport of Zwartberg and the stadium of KRC Genk. The area is 80 hectares in size and owned by the city of Genk. It is managed from the Heempark Genk.De Opglabbekerzavel consists of land dunes, heathlands and open forest. You will also find a number of old flying pines and sessile oaks.
