The Waterfalls of Coo, in the river Amblève, are often considered the highest waterfalls in Belgium with a height of 15 meters. The tourist office of the mother municipality of Stavelot indicates 13 meters. However, the highest waterfall in Belgium is the Reinhardstein waterfall in the Warche valley. This waterfall is even 60 meters high. The small waterfall already existed in or before the 15th century. Commissioned by the prince-abbot of the Abbey Principality of Stavelot-Malmedy, the large waterfall was made by monks in the 17th century, probably to protect Petit-Coo, located on the meander, from flooding.
