Lermoos, Austria
The Häselgehr Waterfall Klettersteig is a short, beginner-friendly route tucked into the Ammergauer Alps near Ehrwald, Austria. The real draw is that you walk directly behind the waterfall itself - secured to the rock by cables and iron rungs. It's perfect for your first klettersteig or for bringing kids along. The whole thing takes about 30 minutes from start to finish, making it an easy stop if you're passing through the area. The main section is graded B; there are tougher vertical sections (C/C+) in an old quarry if you want them, but they're optional. Visit in spring when snowmelt fills the Häselgehrbach, or after heavy rain; that's when the waterfall really shows what it's got. There's parking right by the highway, so logistics are simple.
